Stephanie Name: Stephanie Diane - Vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar, and the occasional avocado

Instruments:
anything they'll let me play, basically. primarily my voice of course; the tambourine or other percussive produce; and now (ta da!) the acoustic guitar. soooometimes though, when the moon is full and Bill is feeling especially indulgent, i manage to get my hands on his Hagstrom. and when Kevin leaves his drums unattended…hee hee… a thunderous roll is heard in the distance… could it be… Alex Van Halen?

Musical Influences:
vocally i guess i'd say Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, and Alanis Morrisette… i haven't really been writing music long enough to decide who i'm influenced by in that respect… right now i'm mostly influenced by myself, i think. i do find love and angst (but i repeat myself) very inspirational for lyric writing.

Stephanie

Best Songs:
my current favorites are Cleaning Out My Closet by Eminem (no i'm not kidding, i love him), Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow and Kelly Osbourne's rendition of Madonna's Papa Don't Preach. others that have held significance at one point or another: Landslide, Fleetwood Mac; Kite, U2; In Your Eyes, Peter Gabriel; The Difficult Kind, Sheryl Crow; and Feelin' Love, Paula Cole.

Worst Songs:
how about most annoying songs? Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I Will Survive top my personal list. Cher and Rod Stewart come in at number one and number two on my list of most annoying song artists.

Sun Sign
scorpio. did you know Gary and i have the same birthday? :)

Celtic Moon Sign
ngetal. english translation = it's a reed.

Favorite Color
at the moment is pink

Favorite Animal & Why:
Puppies. everything about them makes me happy

Favorite Food: : i have such a wide range of tastes… i live for lobster with citrus butter and yet at the same time, pickled cauliflower rocks. my most "i can't live for one more second if i can't have it" food is the olive. the very salty, pit-in, green or black variety… my mouth is watering just thinking about them! no, really - i need a napkin or something…

Favorite Soup: : zuppa de pesce, i guess. this is too difficult a question - soup is like my favorite food.

Favorite Cheese: : another toughie. we need some new questions. how about my favorite thing to DO with cheese? take some gruyere… add a little dry white wine… maybe some garlic… melt in a fondue pot and slowly dip chunks of hard french bread into the pot… pull out and twist, lift to your lips, open wide… then let it pour over your tongue and fill your mouth. mmmmmm…. where were we?

Stephanie

Favorite TV Show/Movie:
will and grace/the ref

Best Practice Quotes:
"can I play the [insert instrument here] for this song?" (me, whenever we learn anything new) "are you on speed?" (Cyn to Kevin after a particularly peppy rendition of "Empty Place") "i love you guys" (Gary, after every gig and during every rehearsal - we love you too, Gary) "he has grab" (who actually said this?) "rrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaoooooowwwrrrrrr" (Akela when she sees me!)

Intellectual Quotes:
: pretty much the smartest quote i've heard is by comedian Laura Kightlinger - "you know, when you get back together with an old boyfriend, it's pathetic. it's like having a garage sale and buying your own stuff back." another favorite… "i'm here! i'm succulent and i'm loud! living juicy means: rolling down a bright grassy hill, sleeping all day to stay in a dream, definitely taking your shoes off at the beach. buying flowers that make you gasp. find those places inside that jump for joy and do things that bring out your best, most magic self!" sark

Favorite Line[s]/Lyric[s] from one of our original songs:
"i can't reach you… without letting go."(Take Me Down)
"better to drown than to fade away"(Wild Night Waves)

Part-Time Job(s): hr program manager

Best Way to Beat Bill: in a contest for U2 tickets.
(sidenote from Bill - "I was robbed!")

Favorite Season:

Favorite Body Part:

What's in the trunk of your car:

Most Memorable Band-Related Happenstance:

Cyn and i trying to make ourselves beautiful in some of the most disgusting bathrooms on the face of the earth (the winner by a laaaaaaandslide was the El-n-Gee)
getting a marriage proposal at a gig (in retrospect…perhaps my only shot!)
Bill eating an entire spoonful of wasabi
Bill trying to barter songs in exchange for girls taking their shirts off (hasn't worked yet but you gotta give the guy props for trying)
bar fights at Callahan's… and Scott to the rescue
stealing the last one… at the worst possible time (sorry… sorry sorry sorry)
lingering after...
serenading outside the bathroom door (thanks again for coming!)

Most Bizarre Initial Impression of Another Band Member: was when i met Bruce. it was kind of like… ah… who is this guy? is he in our band? :)

Liquid Sustenance While Playing:
WELL… can't drink stoli anymore… ever see that Seinfeld episode with the black and white cookie? yah - that's vodka for me. seriously - eleven years without puking… and one supersized cranberry and vodka (thanks, Meg - and of course Kate "Eyeballs" McMahon) ripped the record to shreds! now I stick to beer and VO sours.

Favorite Past Life:
was as Thumbelina

Best "Spellbinding" Activity:
alone - daydreaming. with the band - sitting on the couch, eyes closed, listening to them play and play… and slowly finding the words that must have been there all along…

Final Thoughts...

Last thought before you continue on your merry way...
If you're going to be able to look back on something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now.
a cha cha cha!
